  • Make sure the battery on your mobile phone is more than 60%
  • Enable USB Debugging, by open Settings > Developers Option > USB Debugging
    (If Developers Option is hidden, go to Settings > About Phone > Built Number (tap on it for 5-8 times)
  • Download Fastboot and Extract it to your desktop.
  • Download Advanced Stock Kernel and save it to your desktop.
  • Download SuperSU .zip and save it to your desktop.

How to Unlock Bootloader and Flashing a Custom Recovery on Sony Xperia Z3 D6653/ D6603/ D6633

  • To get root access you need to unlock bootloader on the Sony Xperia Z3. Unlock the bootloader process will erase all the data in the phone will be lost so you need to make backups. Follow the steps in the video below or visit the Sony website. You need to do this inorder to root the device!

  • After unlock bootloader, turn off your Sony Xperia Z3
  • Boot into fastboot mode, by hold Volume up button + connect USB cable until blue LED indicator on
  • Launch a Command Prompt Window on your desktop, by hold down Shift and right-click on any blank area on your screen and select Open command window here.
  • Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:
    • adb reboot fastboot
  • Once there, issue the following command:
    •  bootZ3monxtest01.img (for D6653/ D6603)
    • bootZ3dualmonxtest01.img (For D6633)
  • It should flash the boot image on your device.
  • When it’s done, issue the following command:
    • fastboot reboot
  • Now your Sony Xperia Z3 will reboot

How to Root Sony Xperia Z3 D6653/ D6603/ D6633

  • Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
  • Copy SuperSU .zip from your desktop to your Sony Xperia Z3 SD card.
  • After that, unplug your device from your PC.
  • Turn OFF your Sony Xperia Z3
  • Boot into CWM Recovery mode, by holding down Volume UP and Power buttons together

  • In recovery menu, select “install zip from SD card” and select the which you have transferred to the SD Card.
  • It should begin flashing the selected .zip file on your device.
  • Once the process is completed, you need to select “Reboot system now” and your smartphone will reboot normally
