How to Root Asus Zenfone 5 on Android 4.4.2 kitkat – One of the latest mobile phones from Asus is Zenfone 5, which promises adequate completeness of features, specifications and quite steady, and of course an affordable price. Asus ZenFone 5 is released by Asus to market to target the low-end mobile phone market with the price is quite cheap and certainly specifications may be pitted with other entry-level smartphone.

Existing design on Asus ZenFone 5 is a neat and minimalist design. This phone has a curved corner and rear soft to the touch of a plastic base material. In addition, Asus ZenFone 5 is also equipped with a touch-sensitive buttons are located at the bottom of the screen. Elegant and minimalist design is equipped with a display screen High Definition (HD) by 5 inches and a screen resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. The interesting thing about the design of Asus ZenFone 5 is a metallic coating that is right at the bottom of the touch-sensitive buttons. The metallic layer has a concentric circle pattern that is not too flashy and does not give effect when you hold the phone, but it gives the impression of luxury and premium on this phone, considering the price offered on the mobile phone is quite affordable.

In this post Smartphone Clinic will provide a tutorial about how to Root Asus Zenfone 5. This procedure tested with my zenfone 5 501CG, a500cg. Make sure that your zenfone 5 running on Android Kitkat 4.4.2. In this tutorial we use Widows 7 computer. Root your device at your own risk.


  • Make sure your phone battery is charged to 70% or more
  • Backup your device data
  • Enable USB Debugging, by open Settings > Developers Option > USB Debugging
    If Developers Option is hidden, go to Setting > About > Sofware Information (tap on it for 2 times)
  • Download Intel driver
  • Download and Unzip Root z5 kitkat v2 file on your windows computer
  • If you’re using Zenfone 5 ver firmware Download Root z5 kitkat v4

How to Root Asus Zenfone 5 on Android 4.4.2 kitkat:

  • Install  Asus Intel Drivers.

  • Connect your device to PC, and make sure USB Debugging is Enable on your device!
  • Test for authorize connection between PC and phone, by Open Folder Filerootzenfone5kitkatv2 > Hold Shift + Right Click + Open Command Window

  • Then “cmd” will open, then type “adb devices” hit enter.
    There will be a notification:

  • If the word “unauthorized” will appear instead of “device” then youre not good to go. So unplugged your phone from pc and reconnect again. A prompt from your phone will appear. Just check allow always to continue.

  • The next step is to perform the Root installation. Double click “root-zenfone5-ww” or “Root-ZenFone5-en”

  • Furthermore, there will appear the rooting process, and press any key to begin, note in this process your phone will boot a few times. Do not unplug and wait for it to finish. Restart the installation process will run about 6 times to perform root process on Asus ZenFone 5 kitkat 4.4.2.
  • After root process  is complete, Open menu. If the SuperSU App exist on your Application Menu on your smartphone it means you’ve succesfully rooted your device.
